Casa Feliz is an 89-unit scattered site apartment community in the International District, including 22 Section 811 Supportive Housing units for persons with disabilities. The community was the second phase of a larger revitalization effort in the Trumbull neighborhood after the successful completion of Plaza Feliz in 2012. The apartments transformed mostly vacant lots into a desirable and vibrant urban living experience within this diverse neighborhood. Spanning 9 separate parcels of land, Casa Feliz’ 12 buildings convey a traditional “urban village” pattern, where homes face the street with private front porches and are grouped together for sociability and safety. Besides its unique layout, Casa Feliz’ community room and adjacent area is a popular spot for community and neighborhood events and after school programming. On-site enrichment services include after school tutoring, Zumba, and classes in health and nutrition, computer literacy, financial literacy, job search and resume building, and CPR in addition to health screenings and other community events.
Casa Feliz was made possible by funding by the City of Albuquerque and utilization of Low Income Housing Tax Credits from the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority.
