Munin Yambao

2024 Scholarship Winner

Munin Yambao is studying nutrition at CNM and plans to transfer to UNM to pursue their bachelor's degree." I want to help with food insecurity and food education. In this current economy, the cost of food has skyrocketed with inflation. This causes an obstacle for people to access food, and even more challenges to eat a balanced meal.”

Munin, a resident of Sol Housing’s PAH! Hiland Plaza, has worked in various settings, from healthcare to restaurants, cafeterias, and catering to afford their classes. Munin is a member of CNM's American Sign Language Club. “My work has helped me afford classes, but balancing work and school has been challenging. School has always been a challenge growing up as a Hard-of-Hearing person. Taking American Sign Language has helped with accessibility and helped me be more active in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community by learning the language."

How will you build a better Albuquerque?
I would love to help with food insecurity and food education. I would love to educate how to make easy affordable, nutritious meals.
